New Parent Debate: will our new baby take after Mummy or Daddy?

I’m pleased to launch today a new weekly feature on YOUTHEDADDY called New Parent Conversations, revealing the silliest exchanges that all new parents have with each other during their first pregnancy.

This week, we’ll be looking at the hot topic of inherited traits and the debate over who the baby will take after most – Mum or Dad?

Will your new baby inherit the best qualities of both parents, or (God forbid) all of the worst?! As it turns out, great minds don’t always think alike…

Which of your other half’s and your own best/worst qualities are you hoping/worried you’ll pass on to your kids? If you’ve had children already, what has your experience been?

As always, please do share your stories with the Group via the comments section below!

30 weeks and 6 days left to go…

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s blog. If you did, please do share it with your friends via Facebook, Twitter and any other social feeds you use, to help this new dad blogger out!

This is an interesting but worrying thought for me, as my son is donor conceived so I’ve never met his “father.” I like to think he takes after me in everything, but I fear that’s not the case, so I’ll just have to hope that the donor is a good guy who’s passed on some nice traits! #FabFridayPost

I hadn’t considered that – a really interesting point. Fingers crossed!

My son came out looking just like his Dad, and likes to fart loudly – particularly when he first wakes up – just like his Dad! He smiles a lot though which I am claiming comes from me! Other than that it’s a bit too early to tell, I’m hoping he has a mix of my bookworm-ness and my husband’s sportiness! #FridayFrolics

Any ‘annoying’ traits my boys have were definitely inherited from their dad 😉 Thanks for linking up to #FridayFrolics

I don’t really know – I don’t see either of us in what either of them look like! They both show some personality traits from both of us I think. #MMWBH

Ha! We always said we didn’t want ours to inherit my clumsiness. I think our daughter has escaped but son definitely hasn’t #familyfun

Lucky escape! Although my clumsiest friends are actually some of my favourites!

Just so long as they don’t inherit my wife’s farts (seriously), I’ll be happy!

This is funny. Its a great idea to capture some of those silly exchanges. i love looking at my children and always wonder who they will take after. I compare my baby pictures to our children pictures to see if they are like me or more like their dad. its fun! It’s always so disappointing to me when I ask someone who they think a child looks like and they say “he looks like himself” . *Spoiler Alert!*
