New parent debate: The pitfalls of pram shopping

Between you and me, I hate shopping at the best of times, but this is one shopping trip that I’ve personally been dreading ever since discovering we were pregnant back in January – the argument-inducing, more-stressful-than-you’d-think, first outing to choose and buy your first pram.

This innocent-sounding exercise should be simple right? A total breeze? WRONG!

The volume of otherwise happy couples who start the day of pram browsing in high spirits but end up screaming at each other in the middle of their local Mothercare before angrily driving home in absolute silence, is frankly astounding.

OK, that might be a slight exaggeration but as many of my pregnant friends will attest, pram shopping is in no way a fun experience.

So for this week’s New Parent Conversations, a regular feature which reveals the silliest exchanges that all new parents have with each other during their first pregnancy, I’ll be sharing with you a real conversation that two of my closest pregnant friends had during their first pram shopping trip.

As always, it turns out that great minds don’t necessarily think alike…

Pram shopping nightmares

Did you go through the same thing with your other half when pram shopping for the first time? What were the pram features you and your partner disagreed on?

Or better yet, are there any prams on the market that you would recommend so highly that my wife and I might forego the whole torturous experience altogether?!

As always, we’d love to hear from you so please do share your stories, experiences and recommendations with the group via the comments section below!

Ahh the memories of pram shopping! I did all the research for ours and ended up buying it when at the baby show by myself, I did call hubby and ask what he thought of the chosen pram but it definitely was a case of buy what you like! We ended up buying the Orbit Baby G2 (now replaced by the newer model G3) which has been designed by two dads and I absolutely love it, it has so many cool features and is really practical, I’ve recently mentioned it in my Top 10 Baby Items post if you want to take a look http://diapersatdawn.com/top-10-baby-items-newborns/
    .
I also liked the ICandy Raspberry for it’s lightness and the fact that you wouldn’t need a separate stroller later on for holidays etc. x
