I am incredibly excited and immensely proud to formally introduce you to our new baby boy, our son, Teddy, who was born on Saturday 27 August at 4:31am.
So eager to meet you all, Teddy arrived much earlier than expected (three weeks and four days before his due date, on the first day of my wife’s maternity leave, no less!). But despite this, he weighed in at a healthy 7lbs (3.1 kg) at birth, which was a massive relief given his premature status.
For any pregnant couples who are approaching the 36 week mark, make sure you have your hospital bags packed and your birth preferences decided…as we just discovered, your baby could easily arrive any day now!
The birth itself was an absolutely amazing experience for both me and my wife, who was a total trooper, delivering the baby naturally in just eight and a half hours using nothing but gas and air, plus a few hypnobirthing techniques that we’d recently started practising. Full birth story to follow on the blog soon…
As you might expect, the past two weeks have been an intense physical, mental and emotional rollercoaster, as my wife and I figure out how to be parents for the first time.
But needless to say, we’re totally in love with this tiny little human that we’ve made together. I know all parents think it about their own baby, but Teddy really is the cutest.
So stay tuned for more news from the front line of parenting, as I officially evolve from being a fledgling pregnancy writer to finally becoming a bonafide dad blogger for real. I can’t wait to fill you in on what we’ve been up to so far!
And for more daily updates, you can also stay in touch with YOU THE DADDY via Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook.
We hit 37 weeks on Saturday! Everything is ready to go for us, now it’s just the waiting game. I am so happy for you all! Congratulations!

Thanks Tina! Good luck with your last few weeks of pregnancy! X
Congrats on Teddy’s arrival – clearly he was in a hurry to discover the world! Glad to hear you weren’t caught completely on the hop too. Our three were the opposite – 12, 2 and 18 days late. Those bags stayed packed for a very long time!

Thank Tim! Thankfully we bought the car seat and packed our bags the weekend before!
